Mango goes for a tango!

The three-year journey of transformation of the business model MANGODVM from paper to market-ready is a mixed bag with a lot of learning process, improvisations, backed by passion and enthusiasm of a determined entrepreneur Mr.Ramkumar. His product MANGODVM is a digital vending machine, which sells music, videos, and games compatible with MP3/cell phones etc. MANGODVM is a perfect example of a mastering simplicity. The business model has won laurels at DST-Intel India Business plan competition.

It was during June-July 2007, this concept level product took shape of a real time business, when Mr.RamKumar applied this for Chennai fund seeking investments. Given the efforts put by Ramkumar and his partner N.C. Deepak Ramesh, and the kind of thought process they had undergone, the MANGODVM drew the attention of almost all the chartered investors of the Chennai Fund. MANGODVM business plan one of the four final lists, screened from a total of 30 entries. The huge market potential and the high degree of scalability paved way to the final selection of the MANGODVM project.

For Mr.Ramkumar, it not just getting monetary aid from Chennai Fund, but it is a continued guidance given by the mentors- the business experts/members of the Chennai Fund in terms refining the concept, defining the business strategies.  Being a music lover himself, this multifaceted entrepreneur is confident of the exponential growth of his company, which is aimed at almost every digital generation music enthusiast! Statistically, he wanted to tap at least a market size of 30 million customers from a lot of 300 million Indian mobile customers within 3 years down the line… that’s a 3-3-3 Strategy for him! And the his vision is to become a billion dollar company by 2010, providing easy access to digital music to millions of consumers across India, through a large network of Digital Vending Machines (DVM).
